Program Description
A Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese and Linguistics is a joint honors degree that integrates a profound, scientific grasp of how language functions with high-level proficiency in the Portuguese language. The course covers the basic principles of linguistics—such as phonetics, syntax, and semantics—while also offering an in-depth look at the rich cultures, histories, and literatures of the Portuguese-speaking world. The degree positions graduates to pursue a broad variety of international careers in translation, language teaching, speech technology, and research, among other areas, where knowledge of a particular language and of the general rules of language is a valuable asset.
