Program Description
A Bachelor of Arts in Arabic and Linguistics is a combined honors degree that combines scientific, in-depth knowledge of how language functions with advanced-level proficiency in the Arabic language. The course teaches the fundamentals of linguistics—phonetics, syntax, and semantics, for example—while also examining in detail the different cultures, histories, and literature of the Arab world. The degree prepares graduates for a wide range of global careers in translation, language teaching, diplomacy, and research, among others, where an understanding of both a specific language and the general principles of language is an asset.
