Wichita State University, or WSU, is a public research university that was founded in 1895 and located in Wichita, Kansas. It is one of the governed members of the Kansas Board of Regents system, a state-funded educational institution, and a cornerstone of higher learning in the region. The urban campus of the university spreads over more than 330 acres, modern facilities mingling with vibrancy in campus community life. Wichita State offers a broad portfolio of undergraduate and graduate programs through its seven colleges, which include the renowned W. The Global Select Scholarship at Wichita State University offers merit-based tuition discounts for eligible international students, reducing tuition costs by 36% for undergraduates and 38% for graduates. Unlike traditional scholarships, Global Select provides a per-credit-hour discount and does not require full-time enrollment. To qualify, undergraduates need a minimum 3.0 GPA, while graduate students require a 3.3 GPA (or international equivalent). Students graduating from Wichita State with a 3.3+ GPA remain eligible. The scholarship is open to incoming freshmen, transfer, and graduate students but is rescinded if the student’s immigration status changes..
University Accreditation/ Recognition
Wichita State has been regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, now known as HLC, since 1927. The institution also holds several specialized accreditations for academic programs in ABET for engineering and technology, the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, and the American Chemical Society for chemistry programs. Whereas the business and accounting programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, nursing education is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. In addition, accreditations by the National Association of Schools of Art & Design and the National Association of Schools of Music attest to the excellence achieved by WSU in diverse areas.
