Vancouver Island University (VIU) is a public Canadian university located in Nanaimo, British Columbia, with satellite campuses in Cowichan, Powell River, and Parksville-Qualicum Beach. It was first founded in 1936 as the Dominion-Provincial Youth Training Centre, then became Malaspina College in 1969, and following a succession of transformations, was officially designated Vancouver Island University on September 1, 2008. VIU offers more than 120 programs at the undergraduate, graduate, diploma, and certificate levels in the fields of Science, Arts, Business, Education, Health, Trades, and Technology. It has institutional and programmatic accreditations in Nursing, Business, and Interior Design, among others. It enrolls about 12,600 students, with VIU welcoming more than 1,300 international students from more than 80 countries, along with a strong Indigenous student body. Scholarship Details
International merits based Scholarships for graduates and undergraduates Students
Vancouver Island University offers an array of merit scholarships to international undergraduate students, honoring excellent scholarly performance. The awards include the VIU Worldwide Entrance Award (CAD 1,000) for new students with excellent transcripts, BC High School Entrance Award (CAD 2,500) for students graduating from high school with at least an 85% in course prerequisites, and the Regional Entrance Scholarship (CAD 5,000) for the top candidates from different parts of the globe. High-achieving International Baccalaureate students receive up to CAD 10,000 with a minimum of 30 IB points, and the Pisces Entrance Scholarship (CAD 2,500) requires a GPA of 3.5 and is renewable for four years if GPA is sustained. These scholarships reflect VIU's commitment to attracting high-achieving international students and pursuing further education.
