Program Description
The Bachelor of Environment & Society (Environmental Sciences) at Capilano University is a 4‑year interdisciplinary degree that equips students with scientific, social, and ethical tools to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainability challenges. Students build a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, ecology, GIS, and statistics, then specialize in modules such as applied ecology, urban sustainability or climate change. Hands‑on fieldwork and community partnerships (for example with the Átl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound Biosphere region) enrich learning, culminating in a capstone research project. Graduates are prepared for careers in environmental science, conservation, policy, GIS, ecological restoration, or sustainable planning.
